The Tuskegee Airmen was a squadron of all African Americans that paved the way for luxuriant integration of the U.S. armament. Before 1940 the U.S. military did not allow African Americans to fly aircraft, but because of hug brought on by cultivated rights organizations and the black press the institution of an all African American squadron was possible in 1941. The Army chose the Tuskegee Institute because it had the facilities, technical and plan instructors, along with great wear for year rou nd flying.
